Canada

An information article about Canada, written by Yenny Jiang (Class 5)

Canada is a country in North America. It’s just above America and is the world’s second largest country!

The capital of Canada is Ottawa, located in the east of southern Ontario. If you ever visit Ottawa, there are museums, memorials, and more! One to visit would be the Canadian War museum; to learn more about Canada’s history, this museum is well recommended! If you want to go somewhere to ski, Whistler would be a perfect place to visit.

Some interesting facts are that 6 Canadian cities have more than 1 million residents. Also, Santa Claus’s official address is in Canada. There are also a dozen weird things that can only happen in Canada! Such as the fact that we put maple syrup in and on everything, even to roast vegetables! Did you know that 80% of the world’s maple syrup is made in Canada? So, as you can see, Canada can get really weird sometimes.

There are also a lot of famous or national traditions in Canada. One would be ice hockey. Most Canadians feel the same way about ice hockey as the British do about football. Canada’s major cities are home to some famous teams such as the Toronto Maple Leafs, The Calgary Flames, and the Vancouver canucks. Now, this could be something unusual, but Canadians can be unerringly polite almost all the time, and will apologize for something that isn’t their fault. This is because most Canadians get taught basic manners at a very young age!

If you want to visit Canada, you now should know at least a bit more!
